Abruzzo is set to become a global hub for skating sports with the start of the World Skating Games in Italy. The event, which will bring together athletes from all over the world, opens with the Inline Hockey World Championships at Pala Pollino in Roccaraso, where the junior and senior categories will start from August 29.
Inline hockey, which was the protagonist in Roccaraso in 2011 and 2021, returns to the municipality of Abruzzo with great expectations. The Italian national team, which has just won the silver medal at the 2022 World Cup in Buenos Aires, is ready to confirm its successes, with talents such as Tobia Vendram of Vicenza Hockey and Alessio Letera and Andrea Bellini of Milano Quanta, new champions of the Italian League.
The Grand Opening Ceremony of the World Ski Games will take place on Friday, September 6 in Rome, at Piazza di Spagna, officially kicking off this spectacular global event. Until September 22, 4 Italian regions will host 12 World Championships, with a programme of 600 competitions in 20 different locations, with more than 12,000 athletes from 100 countries taking part.
The Pala Bolino in Roccaraso, with over 1,000 seats, is equipped to welcome the event with the utmost quality and efficiency. “We are constantly working to ensure the smooth running of the event,” declared the members of the Executive Artistic Committee of Abruzzo, Terenzio Rocchi, Livio Di Bartolomeo and Giovanni D’Eugenio.
Abruzzo will be the scene of very important events, with Pescara hosting the ski race and the roller marathon, and Sulmona hosting the road ski race in Piazza Garibaldi. Chieti will be home to the inline slalom competitions, while Tortoreto will host the downhill and downhill skiing competitions.
