The former Macallan’s is not only heading towards reopening, it’s doing so in a bigger way. Why Hotel & Resort srl, the company that received Fund No. 10 in November 2023 It was incorporated into the real estate complex of Piazza Annunaria and owned by the Municipality of Rovigo, on June 17th, after having submitted, as the only company to do so, a declaration of interest, and obtained the concession “to study the property in Piazza Annunaria designated as Garage No. 8, ground floor”. In practice, this is the space adjacent to the former tavern, which extends internally to the small square, and whose upper floor, currently unfinished, was included in the concession specifications for block 10. So much so that last April the technicians of Hotel & Resort srl carried out load tests on the floors of the upper floor, which then turned out to be fully usable.

Meanwhile, Mercury continues that the company’s hired technicians “are currently presenting the new building project to the municipality offices.” A project that, in short, will establish in black and white the new life of the former bar closed since 2013 and which Mercuri does not reveal many details, limiting himself to explaining: “A meticulous work has been done because it is necessary to comply with the provisions of the health company and urban planning”. Without details of course, but at a general level, what is expected for the future of blocks 10 and 8 is what the businessman described: “In the restaurant part on the ground floor – he says – we want to create a snack bar, a place for quick food, while on the upper floor there will be a restaurant with all the trappings of traditional local cuisine. The theme remains the same as that anticipated in recent months: we want to create a place in medieval style.

But in all this, there is an unknown: will the new director be able to respect the deadline, set in the “essential definitive” concession, set on December 31, 2024, to reopen to the public? It is very difficult to meet the deadline because the preparation of the place is a process “not immediate” – explains Mercuri – but there is maximum availability to postpone times and not so much to carry out the work as to be able to comply with the provisions that the bureaucracy anticipates”.
