Unemployment returns to Canada on a prebandemic level. According to Statistics Canada (National Statistics Organization of Ottawa), the unemployment rate in February fell to 5.5% from 6.2% in January (6.0% in November and December), compared to 6.0% in Reuters. In February 2020, this number was less than 5.7% before the outbreak of the corona virus infection. A total of 336,600 jobs were created in Canada last month, losing 200,100 in January (a positive balance of 78,600 in December) and more than the 160,000 expected by economists.
