An ode to the booth, where the Biennale returns the space for independent magazines
On April 21, afternoon meetings and magazine launches
Milan, April 16 (Askanews) – On the occasion of the 59th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, a small booth, just one afternoon, has been transformed into a discursive platform for independent magazines and publications by artists from around the world. Located between the two main exhibition sites – the Giardini and the Arsenale – the newsstand “Il Gazzettino” on Via Garibaldi in Castello will become a major and temporary meeting point for visitors to Venice’s preview days. Here, people from the global arts world will meet with the local community in an informal and engaging environment to meet, discuss, exchange and connect.
The project is a celebration of self-published journalism and an anecdote of the kiosk’s urban style as a democratic space for the dissemination of knowledge and information. The barrier-free pop-up event organized by Studio Lukas Feireiss & Friends is open to everyone from 15 to 21 on Thursday, April 21, 2022.
Among the different magazines that will be featured, there will also be an Italian project looking at the international scene: Nova Express, a magazine that looks for the pulse of the contemporary in all its manifestations, in the name of an ongoing multidisciplinary profession. After the number zero was issued to collectors, the first edition debuted in Venice, with signatures such as Hans Ulrich Obrist, Gian Maria Tosati, Giovanna Silva, Francesca Ferrari and Gianluigi Ricuberati. A large concentration of images and text will also be devoted to Ukraine.
