“there Sciences It has no borders – as its promoters note – but it often finds itself forced to overcome cultural, social and political barriers. However, progress in knowledge depends on the ability to exchange between colleagues from all over the world, and the key to progress is sharing.
The idea is to create Occasions Share and exchange – Fun, playful, informal – Between scientists, researchers and ordinary peopleto build a society where science can truly bridge people and inspire change.
The whole project revolves around the concept of the migrant world. It is not limited to the definition of a researcher who has decided to leave his or her home country due to a serious social or political obstacle, but rather any scientist who finds himself or herself working abroad. Those who have left their country carry with them cultural baggage and scientific knowledge that is often hidden and unspoken; sometimes they find it difficult to have their qualifications recognized or to adapt to the new social context. But solutions can emerge from the meeting.
Each appointment will tell stories about life and science. Many immigrant researchers, protagonists of the first edition of Scienza Migrante and today an integral part of the staff. Such as that of Magdalena Maria Cubas, Research Fellow of Polish origin, in Italy since 2007; Oleksiy Skorokhod, Originally from Kiev, he is now a professor at the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology at the University of Turin; Marwa the Syrian, Biotechnologist and molecular biologist who arrived in Italy from Alexandria, Egypt to participate in the Euro-Mediterranean International Master’s Degree in Neuroscience and Biotechnology; Gazzeri Mota Gutierrez, From Mexico, he holds a degree in Human Nutrition from Mexico, a Master’s degree in Molecular Nutrition from the Netherlands, and a PhD in Food Microbiology from Italy, from the University of Turin.
