Hockey Trissino today transfers the realization of the agreement with Thiago Emmanuel da Costa Souzacoach last season AD Sanjoanense in the second division Portuguese Divisao.
In fact, it will be the young and competent coach from the Lusitania, born in Coimbra on October 18, 1977, who will take charge of the Pluceleste squad starting in the 2023-24 season, which will see the participation of Italian and world champions in several competitions between Italy and Europe.
Possessing dual Portuguese and Angolan citizenship, he as a player covered the role of goalkeeper, became a star in FC Porto, where he became several times the national champion of Portugal, winner of the Portuguese Cup and Super Cup, and twice European. Champion graduate with Spanish high school training.

He started his football career in 1998/1999 at Sporting Club Marinhans, after being through the youth ranks at Melhada Club.
In 1999/00 he played with UD Oliveirense, and after a season he was back in Mealhada, in 2001/2002 he defended the colors of Sporting Clube de Tomar, an old acquaintance of Bluecelles in the Euroleague.
After a spell at Infante Sagres in 2002/03, he wrote important pages with FC Porto from 2003 to 2006, before moving to UD Oliveirense in 2006/07, where he stayed for four seasons.
In 2010/11, for two years, he defended the goal of HC Liceo, while the last three years he lived it as a player at Mealhada and in 2014/15 at FC Porto.
His rest as a player is rich: 2 Champions Leagues, 3 Portuguese Championships, 2 Angolan Championships, 2 Portuguese Cups and 1 Portuguese Super Cup. He was a goalkeeper for the Portuguese national team and later with the Angolan national team.
He started his career as a head coach in the 2015/2016 season at his sports club, Mealhada. A year later he managed Sporting Clube Marinhense which had just been promoted to Division Two and, in three seasons, sealed promotion to Division One. In 2019/20 he married a new Viseense Termas project. Within two years, the team had risen to Division Two.
After a year at Hoquei Academico de Cambra in 2021/22, his final club in the recently ended season was AD Sanjoanense.
He finished the regular season of the Campeonato Nacional 2 Divisao Norte in fourth place with 55 points in 26 games.
Sousa was especially appreciated by the Portuguese club, as he already had a pre-agreement for the next season.
But the call from the Italian champion made the coach’s plans change, with the club complying with his wishes, allowing him to wear the bluceleste clothes, and the bluceleste club thanks the Portuguese club for that.
Sousa arrives in Tresino to continue the winning cycle,
Which has seen the team win 2 Scudetti, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 1 Euroleague, 1 Super Cup and 1 Coppa Italia in the past two seasons.
