Pediatric Oncology football tournament in the Milan and Cianelli Champions Cup
A weekend of sports for the boys and girls who are treated in the Pediatric Oncology Department of the Hospital Perugia, some of whom are guests in the “Daniele Cianelli” residence. In fact, thanks to the support of Daniele Cianelli’s Committee for Life, the boys spent a weekend in Milan where they had the opportunity to participate in the 4th edition of the Winners’ Cup, a football tournament reserved for boys’ and girls’ teams in pediatric oncology wards. all over Italy and which took place at Konami’s “Youth Development Center in memory of Giacinto Facchetti”, home of Inter’s youth sector.
Sixteen teams participated in the tournament, each with 12 players, for a total of about 250 boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 20, patients in or out of treatment for no more than three years. 6 European teams (France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Belgium and the Netherlands) and 10 Italian teams (Milan – Monza, winner of the last edition of 2019, before the pandemic; Bari – Lecce and Catania – Palermo, and then again) are expected Genoa – Turin, Trento – Padua, Bologna – Rimini – Modena, Pisa – Florence, Aviano – Udine – Trieste, Naples – Perugia and finally Rome). Besides the sporting result, the boys from Perugia spent a weekend carefree and sporting values, had the opportunity to visit Milan, made friends with many peers who shared similar experiences and had the opportunity to get to know their sporting idols, such as Marotta and Zanetti.
