(9 September 2022) – “This week I returned to visit the Italian community of Hamilton, Canada, invited to the 47th edition of Festitalia, a very important event that allows us to share our cultural heritage and our roots.

I thank the President, Mark Farooquia, Vice President Vita Maria Fortunado and all the Board of Directors for organizing this event and for the kind invitation.

In my greeting, I underlined how Festitalia contributes to keeping alive the bond with our beloved Italy, fostering Italian cultural heritage in Canada, creating civic participation, respect for the reality we live in, and a sense of belonging to our traditions.

Remembering my pledge in Parliament to the Italian communities of North and Central America, I asked Hamilton’s Italians to give me more confidence in leading the wars begun in Rome and being their voice.
