Sicilian Ficarra and Picone return to the big screen, with a film celebrating fellow countryman Luigi Pirandello.
Ficarra and Picone, along with Toni Servillo, return to the big screen with the movie the strangerWhich will be shown at the Rome Film Festival and will be shown in theaters Thursday 27 October. Already available first pictures.
The film refers to the Pirandello play Six letters looking for an author. The protagonist is Luigi Pirandello, played by Tony Cervello himself, who returns to Sicily in the film on the occasion of Giovanni Verga’s tribute. During the visit he met gravediggers and aspiring theatrical actors, “Nofrio”, Onofrio Principato (ie Salvatore Ficarra) and “Bastiano”, Sebastiano Villa (Valentino Bacon). The two are busy rehearsing for a new show. A meeting that will lead to unpredictable surprises
The film was nominated for an Academy Award for representing Italy in the International Feature Film Award category at the 95th Academy Awards.
Directed by Roberto Ando, screenplay by Massimo Gaudioso and Ugo Chite. But behind the production, Attilio de Raza and Angelo Barbagallo appeared on Bibi Film, Tramp Limited, Medusa Film and Rai Cinema, in collaboration with Prime Video. The cast was enriched by Renato Carpentieri, Donatella Venuciaro, Luigi Lo Cassio, Galatea Ranzi and Fausto Rosso Alesi.
